This time I’m going with Dynamic Materials Corp. (BOOM)–and not just because they have a cool symbol (although, frankly, that is one of my all-time favorites).

They’re based in Boulder, Colorado, and used to be called–heh, heh–Explosive Fabricators, Inc.

They do something regarding welding metal plates together (sometimes explosively, apparently).  Been around since 1965 and have a tolerable P/E ratio of around 18.  I took another look at Consumer Portfolio Services (CPSS) which I almost bought a few weeks ago–except that it seemed too closely-related in purpose to my Asta Funding (ASFI) selection of 6 weeks ago (and which has gone up about 28% since then–you’re welcome).

CPSS has this incredibly low P/E ratio of, like, less than 4.  I may end up taking a small position in it yet–but today I’m gonna go BOOM.  (That’s so much fun to say!)

Happy Investing!

[Update: Upon further reflection, I’m going to also take a small position in CPSS]

Well…so we get thrown off of our horse a couple of days ago?  Today’s looking a little scary, too?

Time to get right back on the horse, and buy a new stock–there should be some bargains out there.

My selection this time is Epiq Systems (EPIQ), which makes software for lawyers.  (As if we even know how to actually use our computers…)

If I hadn’t already taken a flier three weeks ago on Asta Funding (ASFI), which is in the debt collection business, I would have been very interested in Consumer Portfolio Services (CPSS) with its remarkable P/E of only 4 (!)  I’m going to pass in the meantime, however…

Happy Investing!  Hope we all recover soon from last Tuesday…
